This includes IRR17 and HSE guidance (including L121 where relevant), and where radioactive substances and waste are in scope the appropriate environmental regimes and regulator guidance across the UK (e.g. Scotland’s EASR, and the Environmental Permitting frameworks elsewhere in the UK).

Based in Scotland - supporting clients across the UK
RP Alba Ltd is based in Scotland and primarily supports clients across Scotland. Support is also provided to organisations elsewhere in the UK, with advice tailored to the applicable regulatory framework in each UK nation.
Site visits and ongoing support are planned efficiently, with a combination of remote and on-site engagement agreed in advance. This approach supports effective use of time while maintaining meaningful understanding of how work is carried out in practice.
RP Alba Ltd works with organisations of varying size and complexity, from small employers to contractors operating within higher hazard environments.
Professional standing
RP Alba Ltd provides advice through individually certificated Radiation Protection Advisers and Radioactive Waste Advisers, assessed and certificated under the RPA2000 scheme.
The principal consultant is a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional (CRadP) and an individual member of relevant professional bodies, supporting continued professional development and engagement with current good practice.
Training & supporting resources
Where appropriate, advice may include consideration of information, instruction and training needs arising under applicable legislation. This includes requirements under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) and, where radioactive substances and waste are in scope, the relevant environmental regulatory regime, including standard conditions under Scotland’s Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations.
RP Alba Ltd supports duty holders in identifying, reviewing and implementing proportionate training and information arrangements to support safe working practices and regulatory compliance. This may include consideration of both radiation protection and radioactive waste management responsibilities.
Training and information support may be provided in person or through online learning, depending on the nature of the activities, the roles involved and organisational needs. This allows training arrangements to reflect both general awareness and more role specific competence requirements.
RP Alba Ltd also makes use of an associated training platform, RadiationTrainingOnline, which hosts a range of UK focused radiation protection courses. These include both general awareness training and more role specific courses, such as Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) training, to support employers in meeting regulatory expectations where appropriate.
RP Alba Ltd remains independent when providing regulatory advice and supports duty holders in selecting training arrangements that are appropriate to their specific activities and regulatory duties.
